Juneau Dental Veneers

A lasting change to how your smile looks

How do I know if veneers are right for my smile?

Veneers work best when they’re chosen for the right reasons. Chips, deep staining that whitening can’t reach, minor gaps, uneven tooth shape, or worn edges that have changed the way your smile looks over time; these are the problems Juneau dental veneers are built to solve.

At Mark S. Riederer, D.D.S., Dr. Riederer evaluates every case carefully before recommending veneers. If they make sense for your smile, he’ll explain exactly why, walk you through the process, and make sure the final result looks and feels like part of your natural smile, not something placed on top of it.

What can veneers address?

Porcelain veneers are one of the most versatile cosmetic treatments available, effective for a range of concerns that other treatments can’t handle as precisely or permanently.

Deep discoloration

Whitening treatments work well on most surface stains, but some discoloration, from medications, fluorosis, or years of staining, doesn’t respond to bleaching. Veneers cover the tooth surface entirely, providing a uniform color that lasts long-term.

Chips and cracks

A chipped front tooth changes the way you present yourself, even in small ways. Veneers restore the shape and edges of damaged teeth with a porcelain surface that’s strong, smooth, and matched to the surrounding teeth.

Minor gaps and spacing

Small gaps between front teeth that don’t warrant Invisalign can often be closed with veneers a simpler path when the alignment issue is cosmetic rather than functional.

Worn or uneven edges

Teeth that have shortened over time due to grinding or natural wear can look flat and aged. Veneers restore the length and shape, changing the proportion of your smile in a way that reads as natural.

How long do veneers last?

Porcelain veneers are durable and, with proper care, can last 15 years or more. The biggest factors are your bite, home care habits, and whether you grind your teeth. If grinding is a concern, Dr. Riederer may recommend a night guard to protect your investment.

Do veneers look fake?

Porcelain veneers are designed to match the translucency, shade, and texture of your natural teeth. When placed by an experienced dentist and crafted by a skilled lab, they blend with your surrounding teeth. No one will know unless you tell them.

How many teeth need veneers?

This depends on your goals and which teeth are visible when you smile. Veneers are commonly placed in pairs or sets of four to six on the front teeth. Dr. Riederer will help you identify the minimum number that achieves a balanced, cohesive result — not more than you need.

What's the difference between veneers and bonding?

Composite bonding is a simpler, less expensive option for small repairs — it can be done in one visit and doesn’t require removing enamel. Veneers are a stronger, longer-lasting solution for more significant changes. Dr. Riederer will be upfront about which approach makes the most sense for your specific situation.

Can I whiten my teeth before getting veneers?

Yes, and Dr. Riederer generally recommends it. Veneers are color-matched to your teeth at the time of fabrication and won’t change shade afterward, so whitening your natural teeth first gives you a better baseline to match.

Do veneers require special care?

No. You care for veneers exactly as you do your natural teeth: brush twice a day, floss daily, and come in for your regular cleanings. Avoid using your front teeth to open packaging or bite into very hard foods — the same advice applies to natural teeth and veneers alike.

How does the process work at our Juneau office?

Getting Juneau dental veneers is a two-appointment process. Dr. Riederer keeps the prep work conservative,  removing only as much tooth structure as necessary to seat the veneer correctly.

First appointment

We do a full exam, discuss your goals, and take impressions and photos. A small amount of enamel is prepared from the front surface of each tooth. Temporary veneers are placed while your permanent porcelain veneers are fabricated in the dental lab.

Second appointment

We remove the temporaries, check the fit and color of your permanent veneers, and bond them into place. Dr. Riederer makes any final adjustments so your bite feels right and your result looks natural.

Planning your Juneau dental veneers with Dr. Riederer

Dr. Riederer has been serving Juneau patients since 1986 and is a Kois Center graduate, bringing evidence-based thinking to every cosmetic case. His approach to veneers is conservative and transparent: if another treatment would serve you just as well at a lower cost or with less preparation, he’ll tell you.

New patients are always welcome. If you don’t have dental insurance, our in-house membership plan helps cover preventive care and keeps ongoing costs manageable.
