Dental Bridges in Juneau
Restore Your Smile With A Custom Dental Bridge
Have You Considered a Dental Bridge?
Do you have a gap in your smile due to missing teeth? Whether the result of injury, decay, or just the natural aging process, a dental bridge may be the answer.
Imagine a shelf full of books. When one is removed, the books next to it have a tendency to slide into the empty space. The same thing happens when you lose a tooth. The neighboring teeth have nothing to hold them in place. Eventually the teeth move, creating gaps and hard-to-clean spaces. This can lead to problems with your bite, bone loss, gum disease, and tooth decay.
The Benefits Of A Dental Bridge
- Lets you speak, eat, and smile confidently
- Evenly distributes the force of your bite
- Keeps teeth and bite in healthy alignment
- Looks and functions like natural teeth

Removable Bridge
Similar to a removable denture, a removable bridge may be recommended when bone loss has already occured in the jaw.
A removable dental bridge features a gum-colored base in addition to the false teeth. This base helps maintain a healthy and natural appearance even in the case of bone loss or gum disease.
The bridge then uses metal clasps to attach to the neighboring teeth or dental implants.
Fixed Bridge
Fixed bridges are more permanent restorations that are cemented in place. They are most commonly recommended in cases where the jaw bone is still healthy enough to support the restoration.
A fixed bridge fills a gap by attaching durable crowns to the neighboring teeth — also known as the anchor teeth. These anchor teeth are then used to hold the bridge in place.

Will my bridge last forever?
With proper care and maintenance, your dental bridge may last for up to 20 years. However, in some cases a bridge may become chipped and need to be replaced. Additionally, if the supporting teeth are damaged by decay or disease, the bridge itself may become unstable and other treatment options may need to be considered.
